EODev and Qair, committed to decarbonization in Brazil

The month of September was an opportunity for our GEH2® to take its first steps in Latin America, specifically in Brazil, during a week filled with meetings through the participation of EODev in two events with significant educational purposes: the Proenergia Summit in Fortaleza on 21st and 22nd September, and the Winds for Future meetings during the K4TO (Kite for The Oceans) festival in Cumbuco on 23rd and 24th September. On this occasion, EODev accompanied Qair, one of the main participants of the Summit and a major sponsor of the Winds for Future initiative, to anchor change through sustainability and innovation.

Two demonstrations in a row

The Proenergia Summit, supported by the government of the State of Ceará, brought together major players in the energy industry, businessmen and academics. Given Ceará's clean energy potential and its leading role on the Brazilian scene, this year Proenergia focused entirely on experiences and discussions around the energy transition.

This was an opportunity for our team to carry out numerous sessions to introduce the potential of the GEH2® to replace diesel power generators to a wide range of visitors, including school children, industrialists and Brazilian media. Two days full of positive encounters, which also made it possible to anticipate the arrival of the Energy Observer catamaran for a stopover in Fortaleza in November, with a beautiful exhibition featuring the entire project and our vision of the energy transition.

Through this installation, which notably featured a GEH2®, Qair Brasil, a subsidiary of the Qair group, took the opportunity to detail its decarbonization ambitions and projects around green hydrogen, named H2'Genèse.

Then, it was still with Qair Brasil that the GEH2® travelled to Cumbuco, a small seaside town located about twenty kilometers from Fortaleza, to participate in Winds for Future, an event aimed at raising awareness on the issues of the transition and present emission-free solutions for the protection of the oceans, among others.

Two days of meetings punctuated by conferences and workshops on innovation in the field of the ocean, climate and sustainability, took place downtown Cumbuco. Visitors, sometimes surprised to find themselves facing the impressive GEH2® in the middle of a public square, were able to understand the why and how of hydrogen and the use of fuel cells, thanks to the numerous interventions carried out by Fernando Szabados. Our Regional Manager, who was in familiar territory since he is Brazilian, even managed to raise interest from spectators in the evening!

Qair, what's that all about?

EODev takes this opportunity to sincerely thank Qair Brasil and Qair Group for their support, which includes the visit of the Energy Observer catamaran in Brazil. Qair Brasil is the Brazilian subsidiary of the Qair group, of French origin, with operations in 21 countries and more than 30 years of experience in the renewable energy market. Its project portfolio includes more than 10 GW in renewable sources projects, of which 600 MW, including wind and solar sources, are already in commercial operation. Qair develops, finances, builds and operates solar farms, onshore and marine windmills, hydroelectric units, tidal stream generators, waste recovery plants and green hydrogen production and storage projects in Africa, Brazil and Europe.

Currently, Qair Brasil is working to begin implementing another large solar project in the State of Ceará with a capacity of 420MW. Among its operational projects, Qair has in Ceará the Serrote wind and solar photovoltaic complex and its expansion, Serra do Mato, with a capacity of around 330 MW of wind energy and 101 MW of solar energy. In Rio Grande do Norte, the Afonso Bezerra wind complex has a capacity of 160 MW. In addition to the entire energy portfolio, Qair develops socio-environmental responsibility through the Qair Institute, a centralizing vehicle for the company's socio-sustainable actions. But this demonstration with EODev was, however, the first time that Qair took advantage of its presence at the Proenergia Summit to introduce an application using hydrogen, bring forth the performances of the GEH2® and showcase its support for the Energy Observer project.
